The Top 7 Activities In Los Angeles

Feb 16, 2023 By Juliana Daniel

Naturally, Los Angeles has excellent weather and world-famous beaches. Many people outside of Los Angeles must realize how culturally savvy the city is. The museums are world-class, the city is enormous, and L.A. has become a mecca for creative types from all over the globe.

There is a breathtaking landscape, a cemetery that doubles as a nightclub, and sporting arenas, one of which will host Super Bowl LVI. Naturally, there is also a lot of shopping and star-gazing to do. Whatever the number of visits, here are our top recommendations for things to do in LA.

Forest Of The Angeles

Angeles National Forest is a favourite destination for day excursions since it has over a thousand square miles of wilderness and fifty-three trailheads. Any fan of the great outdoors can find a suitable activity here, from walking to skiing and everything in between. Driving up Mt. Baldy is a relaxing experience that pays off with breathtaking panoramas at the roughly 10,000-foot elevation. Some of the better full-day choices in the area are the walks to the Devil's Punchbowl and the Bridge to Nowhere.

Bradbury Building

The Bradbury Building was commissioned by gold baron Lewis Bradbury and had an elaborate atrium with a marble staircase, wrought-iron balconies, and open-cage hydraulic elevators. The open balconies and enormous skylight give the structure an eerie, otherworldly atmosphere. Moviegoers familiar with Chinatown (1974), Blade Runner (1982), 500 Days of Summer (2009), and even a few music videos and advertisements may recognize it.

Amoeba Music

Although it is no longer located on Sunset Boulevard (the business relocated to Hollywood Boulevard in early 2021), it remains one of the largest independent record stores in the world, housing hundreds of thousands of CDs, vinyl, DVDs, cassettes, and memorabilia.

With such a wide variety of musical styles and genres, one may spend hours browsing the shelves. All salespeople have extensive musical tastes and are happy to share their insights with customers. Amoeba provides something for every kind of music lover, whether they prefer indie bands like Glass Animals or pop singers like Rihanna.

The Broad

Edythe Broad, together with her late husband Eli, amassed a significant treasure of modern art, which is now on display at the Broad in a structure with a dimpled façade that many have likened to a cheese grater.

The collection is more commercial than scholarly, which has led to its becoming a popular place for visitors to visit, if only to snap pictures of themselves in front of works by artists like Jeff Koons and Robert Therrien. Pieces by artists including Ruscha, Warhol, Basquiat, Murakami, and Sherman are also included.

The museum is trendy, and reservations are nearly impossible to get. The museum's highlights may be seen in a short amount of time without breaking the bank.

The Getty Center

The Getty has become the centre of Los Angeles's art scene, and the museum's wealthy grounds reflect that status. The Richard Meier-designed building, which sits on a hill in the Brentwood section of West Los Angeles, is a seamless synthesis of a medieval castle and a strict educational institution.

Floating bridges link marble structures, and bubbling fountains may be heard almost anywhere. And the garden, designed by the late, great Southern California artist Robert Irwin, is a beautiful spot to relax after a bout of art mania. The museum's holdings are well known.

Santa Monica Farmers Market

The Santa Monica Farmers Market hosted on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, are the granddaddy of all the farmer's markets in the Los Angeles region. The sprawling market covers several city blocks and is stocked floor to ceiling with fresh produce and other goods.

Black truffles, bergamot, emu eggs, and sea urchin are some unique luxury things you may splurge on that you won't find at any other farmers' market. The restaurant business in Los Angeles is quite enthusiastic about this farmer's market.

Niki Nakayama of n/naka and Michael Cimarusti of Providence, two of the city's most well-known restaurants, are regular customers. You'll be among regulars and other neighbourhood residents stocking up on groceries for their kitchens.

Los Angeles County Museum of Art

"Encyclopedic Museum" is how LACMA describes itself. Collections are housed in various structures, organized by culture. The museum is now undergoing an extensive and contentious renovation expected to be finished in 2024. When finished, LACMA's extensive collection will be housed in one massive structure, the Geffen Galleries, designed by Peter Zumthor. When the groups are finally reinstalled, they will take the globe by storm.
